We have a year-round training programme and intensive training for new IFAs and FPs. FA and FP Profile Financial Advisers (FAs) are more sales-oriented and successful life insurance agents would be suitable candidates.
IFAs handle more data than agents and are expected to do proper needs analysis and present recommendations of solutions and products from an array of companies. Communication skill and numeracy are important. Training is provided in handling the Financial Calculator. Staff specialists provide product comparison and product updates in support of FAs.
Financial Planners (FPs) do more planning and those who are more used to a planned, systematic approach to problem-solving are better able to handle comprehensive financial planning. Accountants, lawyers, engineers and those with management experience are suitable.
It takes a while to become competent in all aspects of financial planning and FPs should be highly motivated and highly organised people who can take care of clients for the long-term. Fps will be trained to do both specific-need and comprehensive financial planning.
The primary aim of our interviews with interested candidates is to establish whether there is a fit between the candidate and the position and our corporate goals and culture.
The four groups of professionals we seek are:
Financial Advisers -Advising and selling
Financial Planners - Financial planning for fees
Financial Adviser Manager -Managing Financial Advisers
Financial Advisers position is open to all who meet the following:
Singapore citizen and PR 21 years or older
Minimum four 'O' level credits
Training will be provided to obtain the following certificates before the new FAs can start business:
Module 5 - CMFAS Regulation
Module 9 - Life Insurance Health Insurance The optional certificates that IFAs may decide to obtain are: Certificate in General Insurance - to sell general insurance
Module 8 - Unit Trusts :
To sell unit trust The Financial Planners position is open to all who meet the general criteria and who obtain the following: Associate Financial Consultant (AFC) Associate Financial Planner (AFP) New FPs will be trained to obtain the Chartered Financial Consultant or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) titles.
